A sewer system that does not respond to the characteristics of the Matanzas city of this XXI century and the existence of hydraulic networks with leaks, breaks and other failures, led to the design of the Diagnosis project of the hydraulic infrastructure of the city of Matanzas.

The Research, Projects and Engineering Company (EIPI), of this western Cuban province, will develop the program as coordinator, together with the University of Matanzas.

According to the Doctor of Science Reynaldo Fuentes Sardiñas, director of the EIPI, and principal head of the project, it is an opportunity to strengthen company-university ties.

«We will have the collaboration of university students of engineering, computer science and social sciences, who will work together with the specialists and technicians of the EIPI in this investigation that will allow improvements to be made in the city's aqueduct and sewer system.

«The data collected and processed will also constitute a valuable study material for the Government of the territory, in charge of responding to concerns and proposals of the population, as well as for the students themselves in their theses and diploma works».

The diagnosis of the infrastructure of the hydraulic networks of Matanzas will begin when the university students join the activities of the school year with a program that combines the teaching plan with the practice of the project tasks
